ONE LAST LOOK

Author: Linda Lael Miller
Jan's Rating: 9

This is one of those books that I hated to see end. I really enjoyed it! Clare Westbrook, Special Investigator for the D.A.'s office, is pregnant with Tony Sonterra's child. Tony has been offered a job with a federal task force to run down"coyotes", people charging illegals to get them across the Mexican border and then shooting them or leaving them to die in the desert. Clare makes the move with Tony and there begins many attempts on her life. Very exciting with romance as a side dish.

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

Author: James Patterson & Howard Roughan
Jan's Rating: 5

I will start by saying that I have read all of James Patterson's books and this is by far the most unusual one he has written. I kept waiting for the story to make sense and you don't know until the very end why these weird things are happening to Kristin Burns. If I had known from the beginning that she was a "medium" but didn't know it, I would have enjoyed the book more, so if you read it, that little tidbit might help you understand the book.

HIGH NOON

Author: Nora Roberts
Jan's Rating: 10

Jan's Opinion: Nora Roberts never disappoints me and this book is no exception. Every time I put it down, I couldn't wait to pick it up again. The story centers around Police Lieutenant Phoebe MacNamara, who is a hostage negotiator for the Savannah Police Department. Her life is full of action at work and at home, where she takes care of her agoraphobic Mother and 7-year old daughter. Now someone is trying to kill her, just when she has met the man of her dreams. I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

SHOOT HIM IF HE RUNS

Author: Stuart Woods
Rating: 9

In Stuart Woods books, if it's a Stone Barrington novel, you know you are going to enjoy it, and this is one of his best. Joining Sone Barrington in this book are Holly Barker and Dino, plus Will Lee as the President, combining all of Stuart Woods' favorite characters. Stone is summoned to the White House where the President, Will Lee, asks him to go to St. Marks island and search for a killer who everyone thought was dead. The book is full of suspense and romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

DARK OF THE MOON

Author: John Sanford
Jan's Rating: 8

The main character, Virgil Flowers, who reports to Lucas Davenport (in the "Prey" series) works for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Virgil has his work cut out for him in this book trying to track down a murderer, who could be one of several people in this small town. I enjoyed Virgil's pursuit, and of course, there is always a surprise ending.

INVISIBLE PREY

Author: John Sanford
Jan's Rating: 7

Jan's Opinion: I have read and loved all of John Sanford's books but this one was a disappointment to me. I like a book that when I lay it down, I can't wait to get back to it and see what happens next. This book did not do that to me so it took me 2 weeks to read it instead of one week. Antique collectors are being murdered and Lucas Davenport has to find the link to connect them to each other. I'll still read his next one because I'm a big fan.

EYESHOT

Author: Lynn S. Hightower
Rating: 9

I really like Lynn S. Hightower and have also read her book "Flashpoint". Her main character in these books is Sonora Blair, who plays a Cincinnati Police Detective, and Sonora lives in Blue Ash, OH, which of course is where I live, which makes it even more interesting. In "Eyeshot", Sonora sets out to prove that a high-profile prosecuting attorney is a murderer and sociopath, and has you cheering her on throughout the book.

PLAY DIRTY

Author: Sandra Brown
Rating: 10

Jan's Opinion: I LOVED this book! Poor Griff Burkett, just released from prison, has a lot to live down. Pete Rose may have bet on baseball but Griff, pro football player, bet on football and is accused of throwing the Super Bowl game and no one is willing to forgive him. Someone offers him a very unusual job which pays very well so he takes it, thinking it will get him on his feet again financially. I don't want to give too much of the story away but trust me, it is well worth the read with a great ending.

LEAN MEAN THIRTEEN

Author: Janet Evanovich
Rating: 10

If you are a Janet Evanovich fan, especially the Stephanie Plum novels, you will love this one! It is my favorite so far. Stephanie's ex-husband, "Dickie", is missing and the powers that be think Stephanie had something to do with his disappearance. Of course she didn't, but not because she hasn't wanted to make him disappear! The Stephanie Plum novels are the only books that will make me laugh out loud while I'm reading. In fact, my husband has watched me enjoy them for years and has decided to try reading them also. I highly recommend this book and know you will enjoy watching Stephanie once again elude the bad guys by unorthodox means.

OBSESSION

Author: Karen Robards
Rating: 9

Jan's Opinion: I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I do all of Karen Robards' books. I hated to put this one down. The story is about Katherine Lawrence, who wakes up in a hospital after being beat up and finds she can't remember anything about her life. She soon realizes that somone is out there trying to kill her and she doesn't know why. The book had a surprise ending, which I always enjoy.
